Giving back. It’s a reminder to those who may lose sight of their good fortune and privilege that lending a hand is imperative to our humanity. I’m a big believer in understanding why we lack basic resources for underserved communities, why man-made issues are so prevalent in our environment, and being a part of the solution to change that. As a former cub scout, I participated in and led many community service projects that helped those who needed it the most. As an adult, I still try to find time to make a positive impact for our people, our wildlife, and our planet. That is one of the many reasons why I’m grateful to be part of the ROI·DNA team.
ROI·DNA has always put the vision of making a significant impact on the environment and our community into action by spearheading community leadership, activism, and culture-building initiatives. ROI·DNA believes that companies need to take an active role in giving back while challenging the status quo. To get our entire team involved, we give each team member an annual give-back reimbursement to spend on supporting a charity or small business of their choice.
Additionally, last year during the height of the pandemic, we partnered with The FruitGuys to launch a campaign that helped everyone from local farmers to local food banks. We continue to donate fresh fruit weekly in an effort to keep that momentum going. And as part of our continued care for our global community, ROI·DNA’s goal for 2021 is to take on a quarterly charity initiative where we give back in some way.
In the first quarter of 2021, the volunteer team worked together to launch a Feeding America fundraiser that gained $10K in donations. In the second quarter, we made a donation to the Clean Energy Learning Institute that equipped emerging leaders with the skills and expertise to lead the transition to a clean energy economy.
Looking to the third quarter, we are excited to announce that we’ve joined the Equal Justice Initiative to change the narrative about race in America. The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, challenging racial and economic injustice, and protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in the U.S. We invite you to join the Equal Justice Initiative and ROI·DNA in our mission to end racial injustice and inequality throughout our nation.
