ROI DNA’s Creative Team Highlights Key Takeaways from Config 2024

The recent Config Figma conference in June was a blast, with new features and updates unveiled that have our creative team buzzing with excitement. Here are some of the things our Creative Director, Erin Askew, is most thrilled about:

Figma AI: The Future is Here

We’ve been eagerly anticipating the arrival of AI in Figma, and the wait is finally over! The introduction of AI-powered features in Figma is a game-changer, and we can’t wait to dive deeper into the possibilities. Some of the standout features that have us giddy with excitement include the ability to “Make designs” and “Rename layers.” These capabilities have the potential to revolutionize our design workflow, saving us time and unleashing new levels of creativity.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be following up with a more in-depth blog post dedicated solely to Figma’s AI features. Stay tuned for a comprehensive exploration of how these cutting-edge tools can enhance our design process and deliver even better results for our clients.

Suggest Auto-Layout: Effortless Design Optimization

Another feature that caught our attention is the new “Suggest Auto-Layout” functionality. The idea of being able to right-click on a selection and have Figma automatically rework the elements into a frame with auto-layout seems like magic. While it isn’t perfect yet, this new feature shows a heck of a lot of promise. For now it’s probably going to work better with things like card components and other UI elements that aren’t overly complicated. But my guess is a year from now we’ll be doing full web pages with this feature.

Figma Slides: The Presentation Tool We’ve Been Waiting For

The introduction of Figma Slides has us eagerly anticipating its beta release. This new feature promises to be the presentation creation program we’ve all been dreaming about, offering unparalleled design flexibility, font choices, and the power of auto-layout. While the fact that it’s an additional cost is a bit disappointing, we’re still excited to get our hands on it and see how it can streamline our deck-building process.

The potential for Figma Slides to become a game-changer in the presentation design space is palpable. We’re looking forward to exploring its capabilities and integrating it seamlessly into our workflow, ensuring that our clients receive visually stunning and impactful presentations that reflect the high-quality standards they’ve come to expect from ROI DNA.

UI3 Redesign: Enhancing Figma’s Usability

The UI3 redesign of Figma has also caught our attention, with various changes and improvements that aim to make the platform more intuitive and user-friendly. Personally, I love the new convenient bottom toolbar and the expandable and reconfigured properties panel. These updates demonstrate Figma’s commitment to continuously enhancing the user experience, which aligns perfectly with our goal of delivering efficient and enjoyable design workflows for our team and clients.

Responsive Prototyping: Ensuring Seamless Mobile Experiences

No longer will we have to hear the dreaded question, “But have you considered mobile?” With this new capability, we can provide our clients and development teams with a seamless preview of how designs will translate to different screen sizes and devices, ensuring a consistent and optimized user experience across all platforms.

New Dev Collaboration Tools: Streamlining the Design-Development Process

The new dev-mode tools in Figma, which allow for in-app annotations, conversations, and collaboration, have piqued our interest. We’re eager to explore how these features can help us streamline the design-development process, making it easier to track and resolve development-related needs and feedback. As we delve deeper into these tools, we’re confident that they will enhance our ability to deliver projects that meet the expectations of both our design and development teams.

Automatic Prototyping: Accelerating the Design Workflow

Automatically create prototypes? Without connecting the pages slowly by hand? Yes. Yes. Yes! The “Make prototype” feature, has the potential to significantly accelerate design workflows, enabling users to quickly create and iterate on prototypes, ultimately delivering more efficient and polished designs.

Conclusion

The Config Figma Conference 2024 has left ROI DNA’s creative team buzzing with excitement and anticipation. From the game-changing introduction of Figma AI to the streamlined responsive prototyping and dev collaboration tools, the updates unveiled at the conference have the power to transform our design process and deliver even better results for our clients.

As we continue to explore and integrate these new features into our workflow, we’re confident that our design capabilities will reach new heights, allowing us to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation. Stay tuned for more in-depth insights and insights as we dive deeper into the world of Figma’s latest advancements.
